It's that simple — and that hard. And that inescapable.

This article from the New York Times is worth reading and definitely worth thinking about too.

My dad had his own printing press in his shed down the garden and ran a little business on the side producing letterheads, business cards, menus etc. Both my brother and I earned extra pocket money helping him to interleave – to put extra sheets of paper in between the wet inked ones he took out of his hand press. It was extremely peaceful and comforting work. And I adored his boxes and boxes of metal type. It was a real skill not to put those tiny letters in upside down. He doesn’t do it much now that he’s retired, but all his kit is still in the shed. Interesting to think it might all come back into fashion.
